Privacy Policy
Last revised on June 29, 2001
Privacy on the Internet has become an increasingly important issue for consumers and web surfers. There are a few places on this website where you may be asked to enter your name, e-mail address, and other personal identifiable information. You are never required to do so.
The information collected when you sign up for the newsletter mailing list is kept confidential. It is only used to collect your e-mail address, geographic location, and any other comments you wish to leave. These data is then entered into a database that only the webmaster of weatherimages.org has access to. I do not sell, publish, trade, barter, swap or exchange any information is this database with any third party. Period.
If you receive a newsletter from WeatherImages.org, it is solely because you subscribed at the URL weatherimages.org/newsletter/ When someone subscribes, they will receive an automated reply to verify the address and to ensure that they really did request to be subscribed. This is the only way to join the mailing list. You can remove yourself from the mailing list at any time by sending a message to newsletter-off@weatherimages.org
The information collected when you fill out the survey form is also kept confidential with the same guidlines of security and honor as that above.
When you send me an e-mail with your questions and comments, those e-mails are archived for future reference only.
All collected data discussed above is stored at two locations: a secure PC not directly connected to the Internet, and a separate website in a secure directory that is not accessible from any webpage.
On the opening page of weatherimages.org there is an advertisement from Burst! Media. A cookie is placed on your computer when the banner is loaded and when you click the banner. This cookie is only used to track ad effectiveness and nothing else. None of your personal information is collected in this cookie.
The community forums located at www.weatherimages.org/forums/ also follow the above privacy guidelines. The e-mail address you supply for the an account in the community forums is not viewable by other users, only moderators and the administrator, unless you send a message to another member of the forums through the forums. Then your address will be viewable to that other member. All personal information you provide, excluding your e-mail address, is publicly viewable by other users but never sold to third parties. The e-mail address you supply is only viewable if you reply to an e-mail sent by another user through the forums. Posting messages to the forums will never reveal your e-mail address. Cookies are implemented in the forums so that you will not have to enter your password each time you want to post. Also, cookies are used for the purpose of letting you which forums have new posts since your last visit. The information collected in the cookies is not shared with anyone. The message board is in compliance with COPPA, which means that children under 13 need parental permission to participate in the message board. Their privacy is protected and parents have the option to have their child's e-mail address, instant messenger names, etc. hidden from public view.
